Informative session to promote the BioMARathon on an international scale

Feb 28, 2025

The event is expanding and seeking new organizations interested in replicating the Catalan model, which has already completed four successful editions.

On February 28, the EMBIMOS research team, creators and promoters of the BioMARató, hosted an informative session aimed at international organizations interested in launching their own BioMARató in any region of the world.

The event brought together around 30 participants from universities, research centers, and environmental and marine organizations, as well as teams working on citizen science projects worldwide. During the session, attendees learned about the concept of the BioMARathon, how to use the MINKA platform, and the key steps to successfully organizing their own initiative.

One of the session’s highlights was the contribution from researchers at from the BIOPOLIS project, led by the Centro de Investigação em Biodiversidade e Recursos Genéticos (CIBIO), who successfully organized their own BioMARathon in northern Portugal in 2024 (BioMARatona Norte). Their insights and recommendations provided valuable guidance for the attendees.
